Using my 2 trusty weather tools, Weather Canada Radar Exter for closeups and Intellicast for the big picture.
The heavy snow area is pushing up towards us - not sliding under us as some predicted.
So, we should see about 1 cm per hour for the next 24 hours starting about 9:30 PM.
Predicting 30cm till Wednesday afternoon in Waterloo. I commute from Waterloo to Toronto so I will definitely look forward to the experience of the storm. Will post results after snowmaggedon!
I don't actually have any weather measuring or monitoring tools however I just stepped outside for fifteen minutes to walk to the bank. There appears to be isolated gusts of wind in a south-western direction (I'm almost certain that this is accurate.)
I just measured a storm total of 15cm for SE Kitchener since the snow started last night. The first 9 cm was unusually dense and heavy for this kind of storm in mid winter here..with a snow to liquid water ratio more like 7 to 1 as opposed to the usual 12 to 1 from thjese weather systems. There were about 2-3 hours early this morning of near-blizzard conditions..with blowing snow..heavy snow..and almost whiteout conditions. This storm was quite a challenge to forecast!
Well the total this morning was 10.5 cm, we will have to wait until tomorrow morning to get the final total from this afternoon's snowfall. But probably another 5 or so. I'll post tomorrow morning.
We ran a contest here at work and are hoping you can help us out!
We gathered guesses for the total snowfall amount that feel from Wednesday 12:01am-11:59pm in the Waterloo Region but we can't find anyone who has any kind of "official/unofficial" number. We have guesses ranging from 7cm-35cm - are you able to help us out? :)

I am really wondering it will snow or not now,...... I really hope it will snow though......

According to the NOAA weather radar, the edge of the storm has just hit us. No snow her yet, tho.
I don't think anything much will come of it.

It's also /very/ cold wind. =]
The media sure loves a biog winter storm. Somehow I don't think it will be as bad as they forecast. After all, it is only winter in Canada.
I'm okay with cold, but I hate snow. So I'm hoping the media and the buzz have somehow jinxed it, and we only get less than 20 cm this time around :D
Another no-show winter storm!! Is there something different about the geography in KW that causes storms to avoid us?

So come on, don't leave us in suspense! What was the storm total?
