With 3 days that were more than 10 degrees hotter than average it is not surprising that overall the month was more than 3 degrees above average. The last time we had a colder than average month was back in March of 2011 and the last time we had a May this warm was in 1998.
For the third month in a row we had below average precipitation, only 28.8 mm compared to the average of 75.7 mm for May. In particular only 7.7 mm fell during the last half of the month.
So far this year we have had 208.6 mm of precipitation, this is far below the average of 340.2 mm.

It looks like that no day in May failed to reach at least 10 degrees, and we, once again, did not see frost last month. When was the last time we had this happen? I tracked back all the way to May 03, and not a single May recorded no day that failed to reach 10 °C.
May 2001 was the last time before May 2012 (at the Waterloo Airport) that had all daily maximum temperatures of 10 C or more (ie. double digits).
